Cork Airport becomes first transport hub in Ireland to introduce reverse vending machines as part of Deposit Return Scheme

Dan Boyle were Brothers Elijah and Benjamin Chamness-Soper who were the first people to try out one of four new Re-turn reverse vending machines at Cork Airport. The new reverse vending machines have been installed at Cork Airport to allow passengers to return empty bottles and cans as part of the Deposit Return Scheme. Two of the four machines are charity reverse vending machines, at which users can donate their deposit to six Irish charities. Aychin Pitse (Age 4) is pictured at the announcement of ‘Return for Children’, a new charity fundraising initiative in partnership between Re-turn and six of Ireland’s national children’s charities - Barnardos Ireland, Barretstown, Childline by ISPCC, Jack and Jill, LauraLynn Children’s Hospice, and Make-A-Wish Ireland. ‘Return for Children’ will provide attendees at participating events with the option to donate their bottle and can deposits at designated Re-turn bins.
